SEVENTY-SEVEN

Jessie jots...

OK ignore my outgrown mane and take note of how beautiful this neighborhood is. These pictures were taken last Saturday when we thought, we wanted to take a break from house searching and we didn't.

On Friday night, we received two new listings through email and one of them is located at a neighborhood we like. At that time, we were already prepare to settle for something less than what we wanted because the supply of houses is really low and demand is so high, that every nice houses that pop up on the list get sold within a week or less. But because Yew Wai hesitated, we decided to look around for the two new listings that came in our email.

We didn't care much about the other two properties. We grew tired and thought our future seems bleak by the amount of people who are investors and only put in cash offers. Also, the website gave very few information about the houses and there's only one picture and it is a picture of the door.

Long story short, we take a look at the 3 bedroom, 2 baths house anyway...

At this point, I was already in love with the house although it has been vacant for several months due to its foreclosure status. I couldn't wait to get in while Tracey, our real estate agent was getting the code to get through the door. My hands were already getting clammy and my stomach was in knots. I can't wait to check out the interior! And kept wishing that everything inside is going to be perfect.

Once inside, we found that the layout and everything in the house is what we've always imagine... in fact more! I can't help to notice that Hushby was smiling from ear to ear too and before we know it, we both said it together: "Let's put in an offer". It was quick and mutual.

That evening itself, we sat down together with Tracey and discuss how we were going to approach this. The seller of this house required that we only submit our offer online. The online auction is an unusual way for the real estate agents. So she did her research that whole night and hope it is not a shady company. It's not even 24 hours yet but there were already 4 offers on that house. We were getting impatient, disappointed and just preparing ourselves to hear bad news from Tracey. Waiting for Tracey's call seem like 24 years. When Tracey confirmed every is positive, we were delighted and almost immediately, we put in our best offer by Monday afternoon - online. It felt like eBay.

By Tuesday morning at 8am, my real estate agent called. I said "CRAP!" Oh no, we lost. She said "I hope you're not standing on a bridge because you're going to jump! haha They have accepted your offer!!!"

I asked again and again "Are you sure? Are you serious? No!!! You're kidding me!" We screamed and jumped. We hugged and laughed. We cannot believe how it happen, knowing that we had all odds against us! Namely those wealthy investors, cash offers and the lack of funds on our side but we beat them all! OMG!

I'm still in daze. I don't want to go to school. I don't want to be creative. I can't focus in class, I just want to celebrate all week long, and run around amok telling people we got the house!!!

And the funny thing to all of this is: Every of our life changing event has something to do with this number. We got married on July 7th, Yew Wai's California job starts on July 7th, and our first house number is seven seven. What are the odds?
